Argentina: U.S. asked to explain CIA insult

Xinhua reports Argentine Foreign Minister Jorge Taiana on Friday met with U.S. Ambassador Anthony Earl Wayne to discuss the recent diplomatic incident between the two countries.

Wayne was asked to explain remarks by CIA Director Leon Panetta that the global economic crisis could destabilize some Latin American governments.

On Thursday, Taiana said Panetta's remarks were an "unacceptable interference in internal issues" of Argentine and "irresponsible, unfounded and disrespectful."
