International Development: Report claims India needs a clear policy on electronic waste

A report issued by Greenpeace, "Toxic tech: Recycling electronic Wastes in China and India" claims India is becoming a dumping ground for electronic waste.

Ramapati Kumar, from Greenpeace alleges the problem is caused because India does not have a clear policy on electronic waste - an Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) policy to make producers liable for electronic equipment such as computers and mobile phones till their life span is over.

Recycling electronic equipment costs around two dollars in India compared to $20 in Europe.
