I will be glad to say goodbye to 2014. It has been a year of tragedy, heartbreak and disaster. We have seen the world seemingly spin out of control and reach new heights of cruelty and barbarity.
2014 was not the year to be a child, our future betrayed by extremism, corruption and greed. Oh, the wise and the powerful tell us, "it must never happen again" and that, "lessons have been learned." Words I have heard since I was scraping my knees in short trousers. And I still see the ribs of starving children, little faces etched with fear - or lying lifeless in the arms of a weeping mother or father.
Until we meet again, I hope you and your loved ones, have a safe, loving holiday period.
