Then They Stepped Upon The Mount

No one heard their voices, no one heard their cries. Ears and minds turned away by ignorance and by indifference.

No one spoke for those who could not speak. Not until it was too late. And then they stepped upon The Mount.

The Wise, The Esteemed and The Honorable. In silence,The Unheard, The Unwanted and The Forgotten, listened. And so did we

Oh their words were so very fine, spun from the Golden Loom that made the Sash that binds so tight

Words we had heard so many times before. Words we will hear so many times again

"Must never happen again" They said - The Wise, The Esteemed and The Honorable

"Lessons have been learned" They said - The Wise, The Esteemed and The Honorable

"Can you not hear us cry?" They beseeched - The Unheard, The Unwanted and The Forgotten

Lord, a tired child am I; Soon within my bed I'll lie, Send an angel, please, to keep watch beside me while I sleep

And the slow, heavy, rhythmic footsteps, echoed in the cold, stark hallways of the Righteous, The Good, The Holy
