Kenya: Tough anti-poaching laws enacted

A Chinese man has been ordered to pay 230-thousand-dollars or spend seven years behind barsfor trying to smuggle ivory out of Kenya. It's the first case since the government passed a new law to deter illegal trading in ivory, sentencing anyone who is caught trying to smuggle parts of an engangered species to a fine of not less than 230,000 dollars, life imprisonment or both.
