Mali: Mali's renowned festival held in exile

Mali's renowned music festival Festival Au Desert has been held in New York this year, instead of its usual setting in Timbuktu because of the ongoing conflict in the country. Malian musicians, who have been forced from their homeland when religious fighters took control, showed an acclaimed performance amid signs of optimism.
