Iran: President-elect stresses enhanced ties with Latin America

Iranian president-elect Hassan Rohani said on Friday that expansion of relations with Latin American countries will be the focus of next Iranian government.

He made the remarks in response to Ecuadorˈs President Rafael Correaˈs congratulatory message to Rohani over his landslide victory in June 14 presidential elections.

He expressed hope that the two countries would enhance bilateral ties in all areas during his tenure in line with the interests of the two nations.

In a separate message to Tajik President Emomalii Rahmon in respose to his congratulatory message, Rohani said that he is determined to broaden ties with regional countries, particularly Tajikistan.

He referred to cultural and language commonalities between the two countries, saying the Iranian nation and government have always attached special significance to relations with the brotherly country of Tajikistan.

Rohani also responded to Senegalese President Macky Sallˈs message of congratulation and expressed hope that the two countriesˈ officials would make every effort to expand bilateral ties in political, economic, cultural and international areas in the next years.
