Corruption: Iran urges global crackdown on corruption in sports

Berlin, Iran here Thursday called for a global clampdown on corruption, including doping, betting and manipulating game results.

Addressing the 5th International Conference of Ministers and Senior Officials Responsible for Physical Education and Sport in Berlin, Iranˈs Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Mohammad Abbasi stressed the need to put a greater focus on combating match fixing, doping and financial corruption.

He voiced especially concern over the negative global trend when it came to doping.

Abbasi reiterated the importance of integrity in sports, saying his country supported ˈfairˈ sports behavior as a result of its religious principles.

Around five hundred sports delegations from 195 countries are attending the three-day conference dwelling on the problems of sports.
