Tehran, April 18, IRNA – President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Thursday invited the independent states to follow the model of Iranian Army.

Addressing a ceremony to honor Army Day, he said that Iranian Army's power stems from reliance on the nation and currently it is more active than any other time to safeguarde the country's borders.

"Today (Army Day) is a great historic day in the life of the Iranian army and a source of hope for all the armies in the world," he said.

All the nations need military power to safeguard independence and move on the path to progress, Ahmadinejad pointed out.

Contending that the real might is the one rooted in national capabilities, he added that a borrowed power will never be able to protect a nation's sovereignty.

Reliance on the nation gives essence of national power, he said, adding that a nation which believes in itself will never fear from hollow powers.

Belief in building is a huge source of national might, president said, listing innovation, getting up-to-date and training as other features of national might.

Presence of the army in Persian Gulf region has contributed to the strategic waters' security, he said, adding that presence of the aliens in the region has jeopardized security in the region.

The message of Iran's army to other independent nations is that national power emanates from the nations themselves, Ahmadinejad said.
