Pakistan: Religious leader calls for sanctions on US

Islamabad, Sept 11, IRNA – Member of Pakistan’s main religious party on Tuesday called for slapping sanctions on US for using and developing weapons of mass destruction.

Talking to IRNA, Dr Farid Ahmad Paracha Deputy Secretary General of Jamaat-e-Islami said that US has no right to object nuclear programs of other countries especially Muslim countries.

The political leader was of the opinion that Canada has taken the decision to end its diplomatic relations with Iran under American and Zionists pressure. He added that the Canadian people would not support the Canadian government on the decision.

“This step would ultimately create problems for the Canadian government,” viewed the Jamaat-e-Islami leader.

He added that West is following a biased and unrealistic policy towards Muslims. He strongly believed that US and Zionist regime is behind all conspiracies against Muslims.

Dr Farid Ahmad Paracha expressing his views said that Muslim countries can solve the crisis in Syria by themselves and the West should not be worried about that. He went on to say that West is trying to create differences among Muslim Ummah.

The religious leader said that sanctions have boosted progress of Iran adding that conspiracies to weaken Iran will fail.

He endorsed the statement of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei that Iran will not relinquish its peaceful nuclear right and said that Iran is a brave nation and has stood up firmly against western plots.

"I stress that the Islamic Republic has never been after nuclear weapons and that it will never give up the right of its people to use nuclear energy for peaceful purposes,” said the Supreme Leader in his address to Non Aligned Movement (NAM) summit.

Dr Farid Ahmad Paracha said that success of the NAM summit has proved that non-aligned world is standing by Iran. “The success of NAM summit is an eye-opener for US,” said Deputy Secretary General of Jamaat-e-Islami.

He asked why the West is stopping Muslim countries from developing nuclear programs. “West must quit the policy of double standards,” he added.

He said that aggressive policies of Obama would definitely hit his political future. Jamaat-e-Islami leader said that people of America are critical of Obama policies.
