If you can't be good - blame everyone else

In times gone by, with a twinkle in the eye, you would be told, "If you can't be good - be careful," the imparter of this wisdom more often than not believing they were somehow being both original and funny,

How things have changed.

These days depending on your status in society, one is more likely to be told, "If you can't be good - be sure to blame everyone else for your decisions."

If you are an actor with a penchant for bashing your girlfriend - remember, it is not your fault. It is the fault of your lifestyle, (try to gloss over the fact that you chose it yourself because that's the sort of person you are) the pressures, your friends. Never, ever, take responsibility for your own actions.

Stick to your guns and soon you will have no end of experts with a Masters Degree in Talking Through My Aspidistra, scolding those who believe such acts are morally and legally wrong, berating them for being so hard on poor little old you.

Remember, you are the victim and it is the negative impact on your career and lifestyle that is at stake here.

This concept of course works across all fields and sectors from partying to parenting and any form of anti-social or irresponsible behavior.

However, there is a catch. To be eligible to apply for this benevolence, you must be "someone". It is also vital that you have a publicist or media spokesperson who can speak on your behalf, producing one expert after another to convince the skeptical, that you are not to blame. It would be ludicrous and uncaring to suggest otherwise.

If you don't happen to be "someone" then it's different. Bash your girlfriend, neglect your responsibilities and/or children, engage in anti-social behavior and the same gurus who defended that "somebody" will tell you what you really are because you are a "nobody". And this time...

... they would be right.

Wherever you may be - be safe
