Darfur: Disarmament of civilians in South Darfur impossible says Governor

The governor of south Darfur, Abdelhamid Mussa Kasha, said that the state government's plan to collect arms from the citizens of the three Darfur states is impossible. Kasha added that the government aims at disarming and controling the spread of arms within the state by provision of license bearing picture and name of the holder.

Earlier the governor said the culprits of Kalma IDP camp incident will be handed over to the government authorities soon. Speaking at a press conference held in Sudan Media center, Kasha revealed the government's plan to shut down Kalma camp and provide the internally displaced people living in the camp with options of voluntary repatriation to their respective areas, or to be compensated with land in Nyala town.
