UNESCO: Bitter struggle for leading post of UNESCO

FOCUS Information Agency - The struggle between the two remaining candidates for the leading post of UNESCO, in anticipation of the final vote today is getting more bitter, Egyptian state newspaper Al Ahram writes today.

Minister of Culture Farouk Hosni (photo) of Egypt and the Bulgarian diplomat Irina Bokova Against will face each other. Analysts in Cairo today expressed fears that the U.S. will use its influence in the international organization at the crucial moment to support the Bulgarian candidature.

The reasons for such fears emerged after media campaign launching against the Egyptian candidate, but the Egyptian representation in the organization's headquarters in Paris hasn’t lost hope that Hosni will be the new Director General of UNESCO.
