Middle East: No peace talks unless Israel is committed to the two-state solution

Xinhua reports that a Palestinian negotiator today said that peace talks with Israel can only resume when the Jewish state is committed to the two-state solution according to the previous peace accords.

"The Israeli government's rejection of the two-state principle means the rejection of the final-status negotiations," said the negotiator Saeb Erekat.

Erekat also said that Israel has to stop expanding the settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, including the natural growth of the blocs, and lift the closure on the West Bankand the Gaza Strip before the talks could resume.
