Czech Republic: U.S. anti-missile radar base will be built on Czech soil - PM

Czech Prime Minister Mirek Topolanek said on Sunday he believes a U.S. anti-missile radar base will be built on Czech soil, but that the project may be delayed.

Topolanek said he did not expect U.S. President Barack Obama, during his visit to Prague in April, to come out against the plans to build the base that have been influencing the Czech political scene for several years.

"The radar will be there. If it is there later, it does not matter, it is a project that has a European dimension, NATO dimension, and in this sense, I do not expect Obama to make any...negative statement," Topolanek said on television.
