Piracy: Turkey sends frigate to Gulf of Aden

Turkey is set to send a frigate to the Gulf of Aden in order to combat piracy to protect the country's commercial vessels, the semi-official Anatolia News Agency reported on Friday.

"Preparations have been completed as regards the deployment of a frigate, TCG Giresun, in the Gulf of Aden as part of the international naval force to prevent piracy," said the report, quoting Brigadier General Metin Gurak of the Army.

TCG Giresun has been commissioned with the task along with its two helicopters, an underwater assault team and an underwater task team, Gurak said.
