Berlin, Jan 26, IRNA - Czech Foreign Minister Karel Schwarzenberg whose country holds the present rotating European Union presidency, pressed for initiating a swift dialogue between Iran and the US aimed at engaging in a rapprochement process between the two countries.Speaking to the website of the German Handelsblatt business newspaper, the Czech foreign minister said,"I hope very much there will be soon direct and intensive talks between Washington and Tehran."
"I always believed it was senseless to ignore your opponent," Schwarzenberg added.
The Czech diplomat stressed dealing with the issue of Iran should be an "important task" for new American President Barack Obama who has repeatedly said he would be willing to hold unconditional negotiations with Tehran.
