Agriculture: South Korea leases huge allotment in Madagascar

South Korea has joined the food security seeking trend by leasing farmland in Madagascar.

Daewoo Logistics has taken a 99 year lease on 1.3m acres of farmland in Madagascar to grow food crops to send back to Seoul. It planned to ship the corn and palm oil harvests back to South Korea. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
