Macedonia: Talks on name issue opens in New York

A fresh round of separate consultations on name differences between Macedonia and Greece will open in New York on Tuesday, officials said, cited by Makfax.

UN mediator Matthew Nimetz meets today with Greek negotiator Adamantios Vassilakis. On Wednesday, Nimetz will meet with Macedonian negotiator Nikola Dimitrov.

No new proposals are expected in the latest round of consultations. Both sides are to exchange their ideas ahead of joint meeting slated for Thursday in New York.

UN Secretary General's spokesman told Radio Voice of America's Macedonian news that negotiators of the two countries are expected to meet on Thursday.

The same source said the Secretary General's Office has no detailed information on Thursday's event - whether it will be consultative meeting or official follow-up of talks.
