Archeologist Daniela Agre, head of the excavation team near the village of Brodilovo, announced that a tomb of this type had not been discovered in the Strandzha mountains yet. Undoubtedly, the tomb belonged to a local dynasty ruler who reigned over Southeastern Thrace and most probably controlled ore recovery. The tomb was extremely beautiful, made of white soft limestone, but it was half-destroyed by treasure hunters. Thus Daniela Agre once again reiterated the need of law amendments and tougher sanctions on treasure hunting. Otherwise archeologists will continue facing this problem.
Still, part of the tomb is preserved and archeologists discovered amphorae, grey Thracian pottery and a built-in grave made of white limestone.
Archeologists date the Thracian tomb to 370-360 BC. According to Daniela Agre the newly excavated one is of the type of the Thracian tombs in the area of Sboryanovo, which is under the UNESCO protection.
