Industrial Relations: Do you think you could be a bit more - you know - German?

AAP reports that an Australian man has launched a 10 million pound sterling bid for compensation from a London investment bank - claiming he was sacked for not being German enough.

In a landmark compensation and unfair dismissal claim against the firm Malcolm Perry, a 45-year-old Victorian-born banker, who earned about $4.9 million a year at Dresdner Kleinwort in the City of London, is accusing the bank of sacking him from his senior management job because he was not German and did not speak the language.

It has conceded to unfairly sacking Mr Perry, but denies he was racially discriminated against.
