International Relations: Tajik President hopes to restore relations with Egypt and Syria

Tajik President Emomali Rakhmonov, is on an official visit to Egypt and Syria, hoping to restore cooperation that was lost during the five-year civil war in Tajikistan (1992-1997).

It is planned to sign intergovernmental agreements on trade and economic cooperation by the results of talks in Cairo and Damascus.

ITAR TASS reports negotiators will also discuss the situation in the Middle East, the fight against international terrorism, drug trafficking and other global challenges.
