Update on the "Spiegeltent"

Update on the "Spiegeltent"

Since I posted the "Goodnight From Sydney" post regarding the Spiegeltent, I have found out a bit more information. The following is an extract from this year's Sydney Festival, website.

Since Marlene Dietrich sang 'Falling In Love Again' on The Famous Spiegeltent stage in the 1930s, its magic mirrors have reflected thousands of images of artists, audiences and exotic gatherings. Like every old theatre, her ghosts travel with her, woven into ballooning velvet canopies, circular teak dance floor and stained, cut-glass windows. Her intimate booths, ornate bar and bevelled mirror columns hold a million secrets while her glorious Art Nouveau chandelier - or trapeze rig - swings overhead.

The very essence of a 'kabaret salon' and intimate concert hall, The Famous Spiegeltent is a mainstay of many of the world's great events and now arrives to weave its magic at the 2007 Sydney Festival.

The Famous Spiegeltent is an over 18s venue only and is open from 6pm.

"Alluring, hilarious and extraordinary." Sydney Morning Herald.

"This year's Sydney Festival is guaranteed to be more "in tents" than last year. The Famous Spiegeltent will this year grace Hyde Park, hosting shows including naughty cabaret La Clique in an intimate 300-seat setting."
