Defense: Russia starts military exercises in Tajikistan

Russia's 201st military base in Tajikistan has begun division-level command and staff exercises, the base press service said Tuesday.

"The units will train in combat deployment, and will organize and conduct a special combat operation against illegal militant groups intruding from a neighbouring state," the source said.

About 2,000 men, along with armoured vehicles, artillery, missile and air-defense batteries will be involved in the exercises with the final phase including live firing missions, ground attack aircraft and combat helicopters.
