International Aid: Bolivia asks for aid after torrential rain

The United Nations has said that Bolivia has asked for international assistance following torrential rains and flooding across the country.

According to the U.N. Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, almost 600 houses have been damaged, roads blocked, small bridges wrecked, some rural communities isolated and tens of thousands of acres (hectares) of crops destroyed. It is reported that rainfall has been 10% above normal.

A state of emergency has been declared across the country.
