Katrina: A story of desperation and hopelessness

I swore blind that I wasn't going to focus too much on Katrina, not because I don't care but because of "emotional overload" both for myself and others.

Some stories however, just reach out and lasso the heart strings. One such story has just appeared in the Sydney Morning Herald.

Police have recovered 22 unidentified bodies lashed together around a pole - a desperate, futile attempt to survive the fury of Hurricane Katrina and the raging floodwaters of the Mississippi.

No one has tried to figure out who they were or how they knew each other or how far they had come before a rescue crew found them wrapped around the pole.
