Small Business: Saudi Arabia to encourage female SMEs

Arab News reports the Saudi government plans to implement the "8th Five-Year Plan for 2005 to 2009" introducing new regulations that would increase women’s participation in developing the country’s economy either by working or investing.

The plan identifies 20 steps to open employment and investment opportunities for women and encouraging women to go into the scientific fields of study all while sustaining their role in the family and society.

It also recognizes the need for financial assistance and providing support services such as day-care centres.
