Industrial Relations: Austria to keep its labour market closed to new EU countries

The Austrian government has announced that it will keep its labour market closed to workers from the ten countries that joined the European Union last year, for a further three years. Austria has an unemployment rate of 5.1%

In a recent poll, expansion of the European Union ranked as one of the most disliked concepts in Austria, along with Islam, nuclear energy, "foreigners" and "American way of life."

My mum is Austrian but I don't think I will survey her dislikes - I don't have that much time!
