Copyright: Germany's conservative Christian Democrats and the Rolling Stones

Germany's conservative Christian Democrats (CDU) have angered the Rolling Stones by using the 1973 hit "Angie," as an unofficial anthem for their election campaign.

Reuters reports that the song is used to "cheer up campaign crowds at the end of speeches by party leader Angela Merkel."

She must be a pretty impressive speaker if her supporters need cheering up but I digress. A Rolling Stones spokesman said "We are surprised that permission was not requested," adding that any request would have been turned down.

Perhaps the CDU will find out that you can't always get what you want.
