Michigan Attorney General donates calling cards to troops and their families

Michigan Attorney General, Mike Cox, will donate $300,000 worth of Sprint calling cards to Michigan's military and their families.

The Attorney General's department reached a settlement with Sprint Communications, following complaints that Sprint had engaged in "slamming" (switching telephone long distance services from one carrier to another without customers knowledge or approval).

Cox chose the calling cards as part of a $1.2 million in cash and donated products to the State of Michigan and charities selected by Cox.

Previously Cox had donated $20,000 of Sprint calling cards to the Women's Resource Center for the Grand Traverse Area. A portion of the settlement will fund phone cards for domestic violence victims across the state.
