Christopher Combs, Special Agent in Charge of San Antonio FBI, and Art Acevedo, Chief, Austin Police Department, announce the apprehension and arrest of international fugitive Alexander Emil Ross, 66, former resident of Manvel, Texas, who was wanted on state and federal charges and deported to the United States from Panama on January 9, 2015.

On April 29, 1998, Ross was charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child, two counts of indecency with a child, and practicing dentistry without a license in Travis County. The charges allege Ross has never been licensed to practice dentistry in Texas and he sexually abused pediatric patients in Austin in April 1998. Subsequent to being charged, investigation by Austin Police Department revealed Ross allegedly fled Travis County to avoid prosecution on the state charges.

In May 1998, the Austin Police Department and the Travis County District Attorney’s Office requested the assistance of the FBI in locating and apprehending Ross. On July 22, 1998, Ross was charged with violation of Title 18 United States Code, Section 1073, Unlawful Flight to Avoid Prosecution, and a warrant was issued by the United States District Court, Western District of Texas.

Investigation conducted by San Antonio FBI, Austin Resident Agency Office, revealed Ross was residing in Panama. Working with the FBI’s Legal Attaché in Panama City, San Antonio FBI facilitated the detention of Ross by Panamanian officials in 2013. Ross was deported back to the United States on January 9, 2015 and will face state charges.
