Serbia: Donation agreement for housing of refugees signed

Belgrade, 9 Sept 2014 – Minister without portfolio in charge of European integration Jadranka Joksimovic and Deputy Director of the Directorate General for Loans in the Council of Europe Development Bank, who is administrator of the International Donors’ Fund, Stephan Sellen signed an agreement on the donation that provides housing for 1,585 most vulnerable refugee families in Serbia.

Joksimovic said after the signing of this document that the funds stand at approximately €26.7 million, of which €22.5 million in donor funding of the Regional Housing Fund, while the rest are the funds provided by the Republic of Serbia.

The Minister announced that this important project will be implemented in two weeks when the refugee families will be assigned the first prefabricated homes and building materials.

Deputy Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia Oscar Benedikt pointed out that the EU is the main donor of the Regional Housing Fund, as it provides 73.4% of the total funding for projects.
