Ankara, April 9, IRNA – Iran and Turkey held a meeting in Turkish city of Van on Wednesday to review border issues.
Spokesman for IranĖs consulate general in Erzurum told IRNA that during the meeting the latest security developments along joint borders were discussed.
Iran had sent a 10-man delegation of border guard officials to attend the meeting.
In addition to governor-general of Van province, a number of Turkish border security officials are included in the Turkish delegation to the meeting which will last for two days.
Establishment of security along borders, joint measures to prevent illegal border crossings and fighting smuggling and drug trafficking are on the agenda of the meeting.
Iran-Turkey hold border meetings twice a year alternately in border cities of Iran and Turkey.
It is said that the regular meetings have helped settle border problems between the two countries in the past few years.
