New York, Jan 21, IRNA – Iran, in a letter to the UN secretary general and the UN Security Council, by referring to martyrdom of an Iranian diplomat in Yemen, called for actions by the council and UN secretariat to fight against terrorist acts.

Mohammad Khazaei, in his letter to Ban Ki-moon and rotating chairman of the Security Council Zeid al-Husseini, said it is clear that the perpetrators of the crime are under the influence of radicalism and blind violence.

Khazaei stressed that Iran expects the Security Council to condemn the terrorist act in assassination of Iranian diplomat in Yemen.

He concluded that Iran, in the past three decades, has been the victim of the terrorist attacks, adding that it is regretful we still witness continuation of blind policies and persuasion of violence and radicalism that weaken peace and security in the region and the world.

Iranian diplomat Abolqassem Assadi was assassinated in Yemen on Saturday by terrorist groups.
