Iran: Interior Minister appointed head of State Security Council

President Hassan Rouhani appointed Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli as the head of the State Security Council on Wednesday.

The State Security Council (SSC) is affiliated to the Interior Ministry.

In an order, President Rouhani expressed hope that Fazli would help the SSC “act like a powerful arm for the Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) to safeguard the country’s security.

The President, also Chairman of the SNSC, further hoped that Fazli would help maintain national security through necessary planning and making appropriate decisions in line with the government’s principles of moderation and respect to law.
