Iran: Iranian celebrities help WFP campaign against poverty, hunger

Tehran, Oct 14, IRNA – Iranian celebrities help the World Food Program initiate charity works to fight poverty and hunger in Iran and other parts of the world.

The group consists of 30 celebrated cultural and sports figures and artists from the Cooperatives of Contemporary Iranian Artists. They will organize a global campaign against poverty and hunger.

Secretary of the International Department of Contemporary Artists Policymaking Council said the Iranian artists and athletes would launch big and global activities from Iran and definitely, the movement would spread to other countries regarding the high power and influence of the Iranian artists and sportspersons.

Majid Majidi, Parviz Parastoui, Reza Kianian, Homa Roosta, Ali Daei, Behdad Salimi, Hamid Sourian, Saeed Maroof, Salar Aghili, Homayoun Shajarian, Seyed Hesameddin Seraj, Naser Nazar, Leili Rashidi, Soroush Sehat, Katayoun Riahi, Houshang Moradi Kermani, Mahnaz Afshar, Fatemeh Motamedaria, Golab Adineh, Seyed Shahabeddin Hosseini, Taha Behbahani, Majid Aghaie, Aydin Aghdashloo, and Mehran Modiri are members of the group.

United Nations Resident Coordinator Gary Lewis, the WFP Iran envoy Negar Gerami, and about 60 ambassadors and envoys of other countries and international agencies of the UN in Iran were present in the ceremony marking inauguration of the charity group.
