Defense: Iran army to stage massive military maneuver late September

A senior Iranian commander said the Islamic Republic Army is set to stage a massive military maneuver in late September 2013, it was annouced on Thursday.

Commander of Khatam al-Anbiya Air Defense Base Brigadier General Farzad Esmaeili underlined that various long-range radars and passive defense systems would be tested during the drill.

The maneuver would cover hard to reach valleys under extreme weather conditions, the commnder added.

In similar statements on Aug 29, the Iranian commander stressed the full readiness of the Iranian armed forces to respond to any possible foreign threats.

The Iranian youth are ready to counter enemies if they commit an act of aggression against the Islamic Republic, he said.
