Afghanistan: Iranian FM arrives in Afghanistan

Kabul , June 14, IRNA – Foreign Minister of Iran Ali-Akbar Salehi arrived here Thursday morning heading a ranking delegation to discuss issues of mutual interest with senior officials of Afghanistan. The Iranian FM was welcomed at the airport by a group of Afghan officials as well as Iran's Ambassador to the country Abolfazl Zohrehvand.

He is to attend a day-long conference on future of Afghanistan where he is to stress Tehran's support for the establishment of peace and stability in this country.

Spokesman for Iran's Foreign Ministry Ramin Mehmanparast said Tuesday that while in Kabul, Salehi is to offer Iran's initiatives on Afghanistan's security and development.

The meeting will be attended by representatives of 13 regional countries and 12 representatives from countries outside the region. Thirteen international organizations are reportedly attending as well.
