Tehran, March 20, IRNA -- Supreme Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei said Iran does not have atomic bomb and won't make it, but, 'we will hit back any attack by either the US or the Zionist regime with equal measure'.

He made the remarks addressing tens of thousands of people in the holy city of Mashad, capital of Khorasan Razavi, on Tuesday afternoon.

Referring to enemies efforts to create despair and discouragement among Iranian nation, the supreme leader pointed out that heads of hegemonic powers and their agents in the region, by all their means, are trying to intimidate Iranians.

Reason for enmity of enemies of Iran is Iranians' bravity, resistance as well as stopping Iranian progress, so all military and security threats against Iranians are aimed to prevent this active, high-spirited and potent nation from moving forward.

In another part of his speech, the ayatollah said the motto of 'we can' was among teachings of late Imam Khomeini to Iranian nation, while our enemies want to tell Iranians that they cannot achieve their goals.

Reciting some verses from the Holy Quran, Ayatollah Khamenei said,' Quran has promised us that if the enemy attacks you, it will definitely be defeated,'.

He added the people of Iran are not thinking of attack or invasion but 'they eagerly love their identity, faith, and Islamic Republic'.

Ayatollah Khamenei said western countries intend to separate Iranian people from their government with economic sanctions.

He added they know that Iran is not seeking atomic bombs and Iran's nuclear dossier is only an excuse to put pressure on Iran.

Ayatollah Khamenei said, 'We are not seeking atomic bombs for our own reasons; neither have we produced them nor will we produce. This is only an excuse.'

The Supreme Leader said the West's main problem with Iran is about Iran's oil and gas resources.

He added western countries have problems regarding energy resources and their oil and gas resources are running out while Iran is on top of the world regarding the whole reserves of gas and oil.

'The problem is not nuclear issue or human rights. The real problem is the fact that Iran is bravely standing against them,' said the supreme leader.

Ayatollah Khamenei advised western countries to treat Iran 'respectfully' instead of adopting confrontational policies.
