Tehran, Feb 14, IRNA – Foreign Minister Ali-Akbar Salehi said here on Tuesday that Iran's principled policy is based on supporting resistance in Palestine and Lebanon.

Foreign Ministry's Public Relations Department quoted Salehi as telling Lebanese Health Minister Ali Hasan Khalil that support for the Syrian government and nation is among priorities of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

He said Iran, while recognizing and supporting legitimate demands and wishes of Syrian government and people for reforms, opposes any foreign intervention in the internal affairs of Syria.

He added that developments in the region would serve the wishes of regional nations, and promote the role and influence of the camp of resistance and Islamic Iran.

He went on to say, 'Due to the same reason, we are witnessing that under present juncture, enemies have piled up pressures from every direction.'

Elsewhere in his remarks, Salehi called for further expansion of Tehran-Beirut relations.

Khalil, congratulating Salehi on the victory anniversary of Islamic Revolution of Iran, said absolutely, foreigners and enemies of the region cannot dictate their plan and wishes to nations and regional people can decide their own fate.

He thanked Iran for supporting the Lebanese government under difficult conditions, hoping for restoration of stability and security to the region and expansion of cooperation among regional states, including Iran and Lebanon.
