The Foreign Affairs Minister of Bahrain announced the creation of an Equal Opportunities Unit on Monday. This Unit would expand the rights of Bahraini women in government, Bahrain News Agency reported.
The Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), Hala Al Ansari praised the Minister's decision, stating that the creation of the unit was in accordance with the National Strategy for the Advancement of Bahraini Women.
The formation of the Equal Opportunities Unit was a result of the efforts made by SCW to integrate women's needs in the government with the assistance of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, the Supreme Council's chairperson.
