Sudan: Defence Council collects arms from its units in North/South border

The Joint Defence Council (JDC) in its meeting in Juba resolved to collect arms from all its units in the North-South border areas with the exception of the night patrols.

The council decided to raise awareness of Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) and the Sudan Peoples' Liberation Army (SPLA) soldier's, so as to reduce tensions between the two armies. Major General, Ahmed Alnou, the joint defence force spokesperson in press statements after the meeting said that the council has formed a joint committee to investigate the breeches that occurred in Blue Nile, Sinnar, Nuba Mountains and the White Nile.
