Nuclear Issues: “About 500,000 had died in the first three years after Chernobyl" - Ukrainian Ambassador

FOCUS Information Agency - The Chernobyl accident took cased damage not only to certain people but affected the entire Ukrainian nation, Ukrainian Ambassador to Bulgaria Viktor Kalnik said for BNT.

“Black mark of Chernobyl covered the whole globe”, Kalnik stated. He specified that 145sq meters of a territory, a road and half of the Bulgarian territory, 5 million people, 5000 settlements. Kalnik stated that two big cities had migrated within three days with population of 50,000 – 60,000 people.

“About 500,000 had died in the first three years after the Chernobyl accident”, Kalnik said and added the most of them were young people.
