Kyrgyzstan: Mina Corp addresses media specualtion regarding US air base contracts in Kyrgyzstan

In response to a recent article in Eurasia Review, regarding US Air Base Contracts in Kyrgyzstan, Mina Corp has issued the following statement regarding their contracts with the U.S. Department of Defense to supply fuel to the Manas Transit Center in Kyrgyzstan.

Recent media reports have raised questions about Mina Corporation, and we seek to set the record straight. Mina Corp has contracts with the U.S. Department of Defense to supply fuel to the Manas Transit Center in Kyrgyzstan to provide vital support to the NATO mission in Afghanistan. These contracts fully comply with the standards set forth by the US Department of Defense (DOD). Mina won the contracts fairly, and they have been and continue to be faithfully executed.

Mina Corp was selected for these contracts because of its ability to meet the needs of the Manas Transit Center. Mina Corp is not affiliated with current or former members of the Kyrgyzstan Government. Nor, as some have falsely suggested, is Mina Corp affiliated with family members of present or former government officials. It is irresponsible to suggest otherwise, as some have relying on anonymous sources, and it betrays a fundamental ignorance of our company, our business, and the facts.

Mina Corp is proud of the work it does. We are scrupulous in following the laws and standards of all the countries in which we operate, and we have met the expectations and requirements of DOD since we began our relationship years ago. We intend to fulfill our obligations to DOD and will remain a reliable, and ethical, supplier for however long we are needed.

Mina will remain focused on doing its job to help support the NATO mission by providing mission-critical fuel supplies to the troops and civilians that are carrying out the mission in Afghanistan. We look forward to working with the Government of Kyrgyzstan to correct any misconceptions and assure them of the high standards with which we have always conducted our business.
