Sudan: No basis to allegations of links to ballot printing

The United Nations Mission in Sudan (UNMIS) has dismissed allegations attributed to Umma Party suggesting that the mission's Chief Electoral Affairs Officer has been involved in granting contracts for printing electoral ballots inside Sudan.

UNMIS clarified in a press statement that the decision to print ballots inside Sudan was made by the National Elections Commission.

The statement further reiterated that UNMIS's role is restricted to providing technical assistance and limited logistical support, but does not involve in making decision over internal Sudanese matters.
