Landmines: Angola - 60 sq Kms to be demined

Source: Government of Angola - The angolan armed forces (FAA) demining brigade started this month clean up operations along the roadways in Mongua and Humbe communes, in southern Cunene province, in a area of 67,000 square meters, the brigade commander lt. col. Jorge António "Jojó" told Angop today.

He said the demining operation is carried out by two platoons along the future water pipe lines under the government program to improve water supply.

In 2009, the FAA demining brigade removed 2,711 landmines in Cunene province.
