Ethiopia: Over 79 percent of voters in Benshangul Gumuz receive Voters' ID Cards

Source: Government of Ethiopia - More than 79 percent of electorates living Benishangul Gumuz State have got registered and received Voters' ID Cards so far for the upcoming national elections, the state's election coordinating office disclosed.

Office head, Bezabih Waqgari told ENA on Wednesday that more than 230,000 of the over 290,000 eligible electorates received voters' ID cards until 14 Feb. 2010.

According to the head, some 50 percent of the registered voters, who received voters' ID cards at 624 polling stations of the regional state, are women.

The head urged electorates on the occasion to get registered and receive voters' ID cards in time in order to cast votes for dependable and responsible candidates during the balloting day.
