Egypt: Egypt reserves right to protect its borders and build a steel fence

Egypt will continue to support the Palestinian cause and back the Palestinian people; however, it is Egypt's legitimate right to protect its borders and build a steel fence, Egyptian Awqaf Minister Mahmoud Hamdi Zaqzouq said.

Addressing preachers Saturday 2/1/2010 at an educational course in Alexandria, Zaqzouq denounced criticism directed to Egypt for building the border wall, saying "no Arab country will accept violating its borders".

Egypt has offered a lot to the Palestinian cause and lost thousands of its people to defend Palestine, he added.

He warned of the Western media attack against Islam, lately revealed in Switzerland's polls to ban building of minarets.
