From the United States to the Puppet State

Now what shall I write about today?

There seems to be a dearth of topics to get my teeth into. Maybe it's because it's the count down to Christmas, the time of year when we gather round artificial trees with artificial goodwill to all men (and of course women) and get all gooey eyed over a few drinks and a couple of choruses of, "So This Is Christmas". A few weeks of "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" then the world can get back to its, "Did you see what she was wearing? What was she thinking of?" normality.

I was hoping for a revelation that Foxy Knoxy once had an affair with Tiger Woods but so far not even The Sun has unearthed any shock-horror connection between a golfer and a girl who thought she could walk on water, then turned to water when justice was served.

As for Tiger Woods, yes he strayed from the straight and narrow - straight into the path of not only an inconvenient tree, but also head on into the gleeful, hand ringing self righteous, who believe that a wayward golfer should be crucified, while parents who abandon their kids every night, be canonized as an example to all mums and dads.

Perhaps I could write about state politics in New South Wales, a state that now has a new U.S born premier. Until a few days ago the average person had never heard of Kristina Keneally. That's not surprising, born in Las Vegas, and raised in Toledo Ohio, Kristina only hit our shores 15 years ago, and became a citizen in 2000.

Prior to landing on our shores and hearing her first "G'day", she was a registered Democrat and a member of the Teamsters Union. She also worked as an intern for Ohio’s Democratic Lieutenant Governor.

I have no objection to Ms. Keneally being "Made In The USA", nor the fact that she is female. However, what I - and the majority of New South Wales, does have a problem with, is her working relationship with those who orchestrated her rise from obscurity to the highest office in New South Wales - Eddie Obeid and Joe Tripodi (photo).

Both master manipulators, both intensely disliked by the people of New South Wales and even members of their own party, they are the two men who call the shots in state politics. A state that boasts the beautiful, thriving city of Sydney, is now led by the puppet of two men who have repeatedly and unashamedly, bought disrepute to parliament and state politics.

How long will Kristina Keneally last? Don't ask me - ask Joe and Eddie, they probably have the next leadership coup on the drawing board.

As for writing something for this blog - I don't think I'll bother tonight!

Have a great weekend and remember
