Sudan: Jonglei State and South Sudan governments to order forced disarmament of civilians

Miraya FM reports the Deputy Governor of Jonglei State, Hussein Mar Nyot, confirmed to Miraya FM that both the state and South Sudan governments will soon order a forced disarmament of civilians.

The decision aims to curb insecurities in the region. Speaking to Miraya FM Mar Nyot stressed that the possession of illegal arms by citizens and other armed groups complicates efforts to resolve food problems in the state.

Meanwhile, Mar Nyot attributed the food shortage in the eleven counties of the state to a lack of rainfall.

He further confirmed to Miraya FM, that he called on the South Sudan government and international aid agencies to provide food aid to citizens.
